My art is informed by the natural and urban environments in which I live. Previously, I explored the psychology of space through conceptual ideas and through physically building or changing a space. Presently my work investigates the atmosphere evoked by certain spaces through light and colour. I am concerned with the transitory nature of life. I will use any medium that suits. Recently my creative work has been in the form of paintings and installations. I was trained at the Glasgow School of Art.
I enjoyed my time there, and graduated BA Hons Fine Art 1st class
in 1994.
And there was a prize: I was awarded
the Jock McPhie painting prize.
I returned to GSA later and was awarded MPhil Art, Design and Architecture in Education
in 2003.
I have returned to painting after many years in education in order to pursue my passion for art through developing my own work.
